Jackets and Pants
Maintain your product in optimal condition (Textile gear - Jackets and Pants)
As motorcycle apparel differs from other sportswear, the washing and maintenance guidelines are also distinct. Just adhere to the steps below to keep your gear clean and ready for the next ride.
Important - Always refer to the washing and care label found inside your SOLACE gear before proceeding with any washing. If your gear consists of multiple layers (for example, a thermal liner), ensure to check the label on each layer. This set of instructions supersedes any other guidance provided.
1- Remove all the protective armours and any interior liners. Note any L/R side markings and the orientation of the armour. Take special care not to damage the armours while removing them from the gear.
2. Check the pockets for earplugs and other items, and then zip them closed. Also zip close the main and sleeve zippers.
3. Loosen the dirt with a soft-bristled brush and diluted detergent. Now is also a good time to clean those nasty spots if any. Check for areas where dirt seems to be stuck.
4. Immerse the jacket in a bucket of water and mix some mild liquid detergent. Let the dirt on the jacket get loose. Scrub it with a soft brush again till all the dirt washes away. Keep rinsing it with clean water. Hand washing textile gear is the safest option. We recommend using non-scented gentle liquid detergents or shampoos. Use lukewarm water for the washing process. NEVER use any fabric softeners.
5. Textile apparels are best dried on a cloth hanger, in shade. This ensures the colour remains steadfast for years to come and the interior lining remains good. Want it to dry faster ? Point a fan at it. Do not tumble dry or wring the gear. Do not bleach or expose to direct sunlight.
6. Once the gear is dry, it's time to put armour back into their pockets. Some of our gear comes with asymmetrical armours, please do check for L and R markings before putting the armours back in while taking care not to tear or damage them.
7. Dry thoroughly before any long term storage.
Gloves and Boots
Maintain your product in optimal condition (Leather gear - Gloves and Boots)
As motorcycle apparel differs from other sportswear, the washing and maintenance guidelines are also distinct. Just adhere to the steps below to keep your gear clean and ready for the next ride.
1- Undo all the velcros, buckles and buttons. Shake off any surface dirt.
2. Use a damp cloth to wipe the gloves and/or boots.
3. Loosen the dirt with a soft-bristled brush and diluted detergent. Now is also a good time to clean those nasty spots if any. Check for areas where dirt seems to be stuck. Do not forget to clean the sole of the boots.
4. If the inside of the gloves/boots is too dirty, only then proceed with washing it in lukewarm water with a very mild shampoo. Use a soft brush to clean the insides if needed. Rinse until the water runs clean.
5. Use a thick gsm towel or absorbent papers to speed up the drying process for the insides of the gloves and/or boots. We recommend wearing them in between the drying process to avoid shape deformation.
6. Gloves/boots are best dried in shade. Do not tumble dry or wring the gear. Do not bleach or expose to direct sunlight.
7. Skip for textile gloves. Once the gear is dry, proceed with using a good quality fabric conditioner. Apply a little amount on a cloth and use that cloth to condition the leathers thoroughly.
